With the Caribbean’s picturesque surroundings, warm weather and laid-back vibe, it’s no surprise that many people choose to come here for their honeymoon. However, which Caribbean honeymoon destinations are set to be the best in 2019?
Ye olde faithful, St Lucia. She’s won the title of most romantic Caribbean island every year for almost a decade, and we’re pretty sure it’s a title she’s keeping. But why is St Lucia so great for newlyweds?
Well, for starters, she’s incredibly photogenic. Every beach on the island is perfect for enjoying a romantic afternoon together and taking some stunning and memorable photos. St Lucia is also an incredibly green country – around 77% of it is covered in forest. This means that they are more than enough beautiful gardens, nature reserves and natural landmarks to visit and photograph.
For the more adventurous amongst you, you can even take tours of the rainforests, so there’s no chance that you’ll be bored. St Lucia also has its fair share of luxurious resorts and restaurants to well and truly pamper yourself whilst you enjoy your honeymoon.
Aruba is the place to be if you like to sit back, relax and enjoy the Caribbean sun. Unlike a lot of other Caribbean islands, Aruba is fairly arid, so you can count on it not to rain during you holiday (usually).
Aside from having fun in the sun, Aruba is also great for staying connected - to the island, that is. It has a fantastic public transportation network that is quite rare for Caribbean islands. As well as great transport, there is a huge amount of partying, adventure and shopping to enjoy.
If you like the English lifestyle but not the dreary weather, then you need to spend your honeymoon in Barbados. You can enjoy champagne and caviar with stunning beach views, watch a game of polo, or have a spot of afternoon tea under the Bajan sun. You’ll feel like you never left home. But you did.
The word ‘antigua’ literally means ‘old’ in Spanish, and this place really does seem frozen in another time. Quaint, quiet, and incredibly romantic, Antigua welcomes those who enjoy the small things in life. The small island is home to just 80,000 people and offers a sense of intimacy and sophistication that you’ll be hard pressed to find anywhere else.
As you could probably imagine, Jamaica is fantastic for couples who just want to chill out and have a great time in a beautiful country. The birthplace of Reggae and jerk sauce has plenty of great music and food to sate your every need. However, Jamaica also has a luxurious side, being the country with the most all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean.
Two islands with two very different vibes, united under one name. Sounds cheesy, but it’s true.
Trinidad is ideal for couples who want the more modern Caribbean experience. It has great music and a bustling urban environment with high-end luxury resorts. Tobago on the other hand is more of an exclusive, boutique kind of place with a lot of wildlife and wellness spots. Both are beautiful, and what’s stopping you from hopping between them? It’s your honeymoon, after all.
Grenada, or Spice Island as it is affectionately called, is a stunning and unpretentious Caribbean honeymoon destination. Great for couples who like to explore and don’t mind getting a little muddy. Grenada’s waterfalls, rainforests and gardens are truly a sight for sore eyes, and will leave you utterly speechless.
The Bahamas have over 700 islands to explore, ranging from a tiny speck of land off the shore to a full-on metropolis that caters to your every need. The region’s flexibility and fantastic beaches makes it a great spot to go on your honeymoon. Plus, you can enjoy everything from spa days to shark encounters just by island hopping the days away!
St Kitts is the larger island of the dual-island state, St Kitts and Nevis. With stunning beaches and marinas, you’ll be able to snorkel, sunbathe, scuba dive and windsurf to your heart’s content. There is also a great golfing scene here. However, if you prefer the luxe life, then St Kitts has plenty to offer. The island is abundant with fancy spas and high-end restaurants so that you can truly pamper yourself.
